'The world's number one conducting programme'

Reviews

"The work of Denise Ham is well known for its scope and magnitude. She is a remarkable teacher for orchestral conductors and has a profound knowledge of the technique. She is an accomplished pedagogue, teaching with unique precision and clarity and she has a great artistic and musical gift. Her work encompasses rigorous control of gesture through interpretation of the entire symphonic repertoire."

"It was my intention just to dip into these DVDs, but they were so compelling that I found myself

watching the whole thing. The Craft of Conducting is exactly that - a wealth of information clearly

communicated, which will be invaluable to all who currently conduct or whose ambition is to guide and inspire those in orchestras, bands and choirs."

"It is something of a rarity to hear of an instructional DVD for conductors.  Every issue Ham covers is filmed clearly, often from multiple angles, and she demonstrates a number of exercises that might be used to help with specific areas.  Denise Ham covers most of what is possible, and does so with care and precision"

"Dear Denise,

I take the freedom of writing to tell you how much I am enjoying your DVD. The way you present one of the most subtle and complicated arts is efficient, clear, straightforward, cheerful and simply very inspiring. Thank you for such a great contribution to the pedagogics of conducting.

I basically trained as an organist and harpsichordist but later realized that some conducting technique can be useful when leading a larger group of musicians, a task keyboard players involved in early music are frequently confronted with. My decision to acquire some knowledge in the field was also prompted by witnessing so much incompetence and utterly laughable conducting styles among many baroque specialists (some famous, whom I shall not name).

Unfortunately, my teaching (I am a faculty member at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague) as well as my concert activities hardly allow any time to attend courses. This makes a DVD such as yours a wonderful tool for people in my situation.

Once more, thank you so much. I hope to meet you one day."
